Director of Program Development

The United Nations Association in Canada – Calgary Chapter (UNAC-Calgary) is seeking a Director of Program Development to assist with the implementation of labs and workshops centered around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The position requires a minimum 2 year commitment (max 6 years) and is an unpaid volunteer position.

At UNAC-Calgary, we believe in connecting Calgarians to the work of the United Nations, with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and how they are realized locally. We do this by promoting the work of the United Nations, funding local community initiatives, hosting and supporting special events. https://unaccal.com

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Lead in developing and implementing a new program for Calgarians
• Work with the board for budgeting, fundraising, and community outreach
• Act as an advocate and ambassador for UNAC-Calgary and the SDGs
• Support the President in creating a Program Development Committee and act as Chair.
• Able and willing to work with fellow board members to fulfill the obligations of the board
• Regularly attend and actively participate in monthly board and/or committee meetings
• Commit to a minimum 2-year term on the board of directors

Desired qualifications:

• Time management, leadership, organizational, research and analytical skills
• Entrepreneurial drive and a creative thinking
• Experience leading and working with volunteers
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of the United Nations, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours a month
