Director of Fund Development

The United Nations Association in Canada – Calgary Chapter (UNAC-Calgary) is seeking a new Director of Fund Development to provide a leadership role in raising funds for the organization, develop an annual fundraising strategy, and lead UNAC-Calgary’s casino fundraising event, The position requires a minimum 2 year commitment (max 6 years) and is an unpaid volunteer position.

At UNAC-Calgary, we believe in connecting Calgarians to the work of the United Nations, with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and how they are realized locally. We do this by promoting the work of the United Nations, funding local community initiatives, hosting and supporting special events. https://unaccal.com

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Work with The Treasurer and Director of Program Development to develop, implement and oversee annual fundraising strategy
• Lead creation of Fund Development committee and act as chair 
• Identify innovative opportunities for fund development 
• Create database to record all donor information 
• Remain current with legislation relating to fund development, market trends and industry developments regarding charitable and commercial gaming in Alberta and Canada
• Oversee annual casino fundraising event including coordinating volunteers and liaising with AGLC
• Regularly attend monthly board and/or committee meetings
• Commit to a minimum 2 year term on the board of directors

Desired qualifications:

• Fund development, Marketing, Public Relations or related experience
• Experience working with volunteers
• Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups including corporate, government, non-profit and community representatives
• Proven track record raising funds for special events, initiatives, and/or workshops/labs
• Formal fund development training a strong asset
• Knowledge of the United Nations, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours a month
